J: Chris Murphy, I believe, has been the one Democratic senator who has had crystal clear clarity about this moment from the job. And he explains exactly what's in this Republican bill. He says:
A: It surprises me zero that they are in there fighting for guns but they're not fighting for poor people. That's who they are. They value guns and money more than people. Full stop.
J: Okay, next up, Chris Murphy talks about why the bill bans states from regulating artificial intelligence:
Next up we have how this bill affects women's bodies:
J: You guys, the stuff that is going on in red states right now, as it pertains to abortion, is so draconian and divorced from any sense that the MAGA and the Republicans for decades have gone on about having limited government.
They want limited government when it pertains to regulations to their business. They want to be able to rape and pillage everybody's pocketbook. Cancer clusters be damned. Consequence to the environment be damned. But one thing that they use to hold the religious right at all times is this propaganda that abortion is murder. And it has penetrated generationally in states like ours and people go crazy about it.
All right. And lastly, of course, we know Republicans don't give a shit about children:
J: The lying that these people do and the cascading effect of how this affects a large bulk of their base - working class base - are directly impacted by this. A lot of people in the base would say that they're Jesus folks. They're Bible-reading people. And yet the Republican Party, because they've had a decades-long propaganda campaign, gets these people to vote against the tenets of their Savior and their religion - helping children, helping the marginalized, helping the poor, helping the needy.
And it's just so evil to vote against nutrition programs for children, while at the same time saying, oh, our schools are indoctrinating our kids. That's all bullshit. They want to indoctrinate the kids. They don't want kids to critically think. They don't want them to be healthy, because they want all of us to be little peasants that go, oh, Elon Musk, please help me. Maybe I could be one of your petri dish babies.
But the call out from the Democrats - and I commend Chris Murphy always - because he tells it crystal clear.
He points out the breathtaking hypocrisy very simply and I hope that other Democratic senators and others join him in this simple messaging.
