Are Republicans Okay...?
It’s getting bad.
It has not been a great few weeks for the health and vitality of the Republican Party, whose leaders seem to be in varying states of absolutely passing out and crashing out.
Donald Trump’s cognitive decline is on full blast.
Donald Trump inexplicably believes that communism is a bigger threat to America than World Wars I and II, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11, as he told reporters this week. It’s not a particularly accurate take, given that the biggest threat to America is patently obvious: a fascist government led by a falling-apart lunatic.
It’s getting bad.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said that the president is “continually suffering from dementia.” The White House responded by calling Pritzker “a slob and an incompetent governor who pushes blatantly false narratives like this in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.”
Don’t forget that 80-year-old Trump is the oldest person ever elected president. He’s repeatedly been seen nodding off at Oval Office meetings. He constantly dodders around with large bruises on his hands and swollen ankles. After his latest visit to Walter Reed in May (his fourth since assuming office in January 2025), the president posted “Everything checked out PERFECTLY.”
I’ll bet!
This week, Trump limped his way onto Marine One and struggled to walk in a straight line. When the press asked questions, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said, “You must be fucking blind or stupid, because that was a perfect walk.”
Judge for yourself.
Don’t forget that medical professionals are sounding the alarm about the clear and present danger of Trump’s cognitive decline — a 911, the house-is-on-fire situation.
Mitch McConnell heads to the hospital.
84-year-old Kentucky Senator and former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was hospitalized a few weeks ago after medics responded to a report of an “unconscious person” suffering from a possible cardiac arrest at his home. In audio from an EMS dispatch, you can clear-as-day hear a paramedic saying “CPR is in progress.”
He was admitted to the hospital that morning. His office did not offer any details on his hospitalization or prognosis and McConnell has not voted in the Senate since June 11.
This is Mitch’s second hospitalization this year — he was admitted to the hospital back in February after experiencing “flu-like symptoms” — and the latest in a series of health issues that have been made public since 2023.
What’s happening as Republican leadership’s very bodies start to break down?
They remain obsessed with gay sex, curtailing your civil liberties, and covering up pedophilia.
But most of all: They still don’t care if you live or die.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has expanded Trump’s powers, made life harder for trans kids, and — shockingly — upheld birthright citizenship.
We’ll be back next week to dig into the Supreme Court’s latest rulings with our legal analyst, Josh Welch. In the meantime, you can catch up on our legal coverage:

They’re already starting. The r’s are going to substitute communism with democratic socialism. They’re going to try to scare everyone through increased ignorance. That’s all they’ve ever done. No real plan, just fear.
These politicians are simply too old!!! Nobody should be dying of old age at their job. 🤷♀️😳
Also, it seems like SCOTUS only gives a reasonable/lawful decision when they're planning on absolutely shitting the bed on other ones (we'll uphold birthright citizenship... but we're attacking trans kids, supporting campaign finance corruption, and killing the environment/endangering your health)
Sounds fair 🤬👎
